Christian Elger (Germany) Co-Chair

Christian Elger is the Director and Head of the Department of Epileptology at the University of Bonn. He studied medicine at Tübingen and Münster before undertaking his internship and gaining his PhD in physiology. Shortly thereafter, he began his neurology training at the University Hospital, Münster.
Professor Elger has held research fellow posts in Switzerland, the University of Zürich, and in the United States at the University of Tennessee.
Professor Elger has been President of the German Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and Chairman of the German division of the International League Against Epilepsy where he is currently a member of the Committee of European Affairs. He is an Associate Editor for Brain and Epilepsy and Behavior in addition to serving on the editorial board of Epilepsy Research. He has published numerous articles on experimental and clinical epileptology as well as cognitive research. In 2005, he received the Zülch Prize from the Max-Planck-Foundation in recognition of his scientific studies in experimental epilepsy research.
